Sister Lawanda shared something with me she saw on TV last week:
The final Jeopardy category was The Bible. The answer was, "He told his son not to worry about the lamb for the burnt offering ‐ God will provide."
The black contestant wrote, "Who is Jacob?"
The white lady didn't have a clue.
The white champion wrote, "Who is Job?"
These are highly intelligent American people who are able to answer questions in seconds about all manner of irrelevant trivia, but not able to answer a most basic Bible question.
Lawanda concluded with: "For what profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul?" along with gratefulness to be blessed by being brought up by a Christian mother who taught her the Word of God at home!
There is a great lack of knowledge about the Word of God, an amazing book that is heavily criticized these days by those who actually have no idea what it really says! Let this never be the case with us.
I encourage you not only to read each day, but to have a plan. Reading helter-skelter usually isn't the best way to go. If you want help in forming such a plan, I would be ever glad to assist. Just let me know!
